What is individual psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a patient- or client-centered approach, also called talk therapy, that allows you to talk openly about your feelings, symptoms, or things that are important to you. It provides a safe and supportive environment in which you can work with your therapist to live a healthier and happier life.
The therapeutic process takes place in (usually) weekly 50-minute sessions. The frequency of psychotherapy sessions can vary depending on recommendations, needs, and personal resources. We use an integrative approach, which means that we adapt the therapy methods to your specific needs and goals.
Our collaboration is based on respect, confidentiality, and unconditional acceptance. Our role is to support you in your own psychotherapy process, self-knowledge, and development, and to provide you with the tools you need to make the changes you want in your life.
Who is individual psychotherapy for?
Psychotherapy was created to help people. Virtually anyone can need psychotherapy, without discrimination or barriers. Often, people who feel they need psychotherapy are people who are experiencing various emotional difficulties and need to overcome them with the help of a psychotherapist.
Our individual psychotherapy service is for you if:
- You are struggling with mental health disorders (depression, anxiety, etc.), and you are also in treatment with medication for these disorders
- You do not have a mental health disorder, but you need emotional support
- You are having difficulty managing emotions
- You are facing professional burnout or prolonged stress
- You want to improve your self-confidence
- You are going through periods of mourning or separation
- You are looking for balance in family or professional relationships
- You feel the need for a change in your personal life
- You want to know yourself better and want to achieve personal growth
These situations are just a few examples of the many reasons why you may choose to start therapy. Each person has their own unique story and needs. There is no “perfect” time to start therapy. What matters is your desire to feel better, to make a positive change in your life, and to free yourself from difficulties.
If you are facing a specific situation or feel that you would benefit from professional support, we encourage you to contact us. We can discuss your concerns and explore whether psychotherapy would be suitable for your current needs.

Frequently asked questions
If you can't find the answer to your question, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. Our team of specialists is ready to provide you with the necessary information and guide you to the most appropriate service for your situation.
Most often, the need for therapy arises when you notice that you are facing the same patterns or problems repeatedly and are unable to find a solution, despite having tried various approaches on your own.
However, you may know that you need psychotherapy when you are going through a period of transition, to improve relationships with those around you, or when you want to maintain a balance in your life when it becomes demanding.
We recommend one session per week for continuity and optimal progress. However, the frequency may vary depending on your needs, goals, and resources. Thus, we can establish a frequency that is right for you at the beginning of therapy, after which it can change depending on your progress and needs.
For example, if at the beginning of psychotherapy your need was 2 weekly sessions, after a month in which you have made significant progress and feel better, the frequency of sessions can decrease to 1 weekly session. Towards the end of psychotherapy the frequency can be 1 session every 2-3 weeks, and after the end of the therapeutic process, 1 control and maintenance session every 5-6 months.
There is no set number of sessions. The number of individual therapy sessions varies depending on your goals, the complexity of the situations you are facing, and your personal pace of processing and healing. Some people may need more sessions others less sessions to feel the desired effects of therapy in their lives. Both situations are perfectly normal.
In the first session, we discuss the basic framework of individual psychotherapy, including confidentiality rules, your needs, and goals. We conduct a preliminary assessment of your history and current symptoms, establish your therapy goals, answer your questions about the therapy approach I practice, and set a course for our sessions.
No special preparation is required, but it may be helpful to write down some thoughts about how you are currently feeling (symptoms, how it affects you), what you expect from therapy, and what specific questions you have for me.
So, here is a short list of questions to answer that you can bring with you to your first session:
- What are the symptoms or emotional states I am currently experiencing that are affecting my quality of life?
- What are the problems that are causing these states?
- What do I want from psychotherapy?
- What are my expectations from the psychotherapist?
- (write down any other questions/or things you find useful)
Generally, when therapy works, you notice that your symptoms improve or disappear completely, that you better understand the causes of your difficulties, and that you develop tools to manage them more effectively. All of this contributes to a better quality of life.
Yes, everything we discuss in the office is strictly confidential, according to the confidentiality norms in psychotherapy in Romania. For more details, you can consult our privacy policy.
Of course, you can come with anyone you want. But that person will wait for you in the waiting room during the session.
The companion can follow you to the psychotherapy room only in exceptional situations where you need specific mobility assistance.
No, medication can only be prescribed by a psychiatrist. If after the preliminary evaluation I consider that medication is recommended, I can refer you to a collaborating psychiatrist.
You can cancel your session at least 24 hours in advance, without additional costs. For cancellations less than 24 hours before the appointment, the session will be billed, as the time is too short to schedule another person who would have needed psychological assistance.
I use integrative psychotherapy, a psychotherapy approach that combines effective elements from different therapy orientations. This gives us the flexibility to adapt the therapy process to your specific needs.
You can tell me this and we can try to address the situation together, or you can choose to work with another therapist with whom you feel more in tune. The therapeutic relationship is essential to the success of therapy and there is no obligation to continue if you do not feel comfortable.
We currently do not work directly with insurance companies, but you can use our invoice for billing to your private insurance. We recommend that you check with your insurer in advance whether psychotherapy services are covered.
Yes, you can contact me for short questions or urgent situations. However, longer discussions are better suited to be addressed in therapy sessions.
